Since joining My Willows of Somerset Care, I have found my love for being involved with community care has been reinvigorated and more, and have been reminded of how rewarding the job is.
Within the BANES area, the My Willows and Somerset Care community care teams have merged into one team, and having joined them this year, currently still in the midst of the pandemic, I have found the team very helpful while I get to know the clients and learn my role, also there is loads of support from all areas within the team, our locality manager, and the main office.
I have found that I have been able to comfortably mould into my role and to become part of the team. Also have seen that everybody not only works as a great team helping each other, that when there is sickness and annual leave, they all pull together to cover shifts to ensure clients get the care they need.
When I started, I found the 3 day induction was very detailed and informative, also that there is a vast amount of extra/further training than the mandatory training. I have worked as a carer for over 10 years and have learnt even more than I had already known, and that some areas for example dementia training, I found was very detailed and insightful.
