Join our Care Home Team in Exeter. Green Tree Court located in Exeter is a luxury, 68-bedroom care home which has achieved the Stirling Gold Standard for dementia design. The home provides a comfortable, safe, stylish environment, for those requiring expert dementia support and nursing care.

Job Purpose

The postholder will be a member of the Management Team and will be accountable to the Manager and Deputy Manager for the following:

  • Leading and co-ordinating the care and ancillary staff working within the home on shift in providing services which can respond flexibly to the needs of the Service Users.
  • Monitoring that staff provide high quality care for our Service Users within the Company’s Quality Assurance framework.
  • Ensuring that resources utilised within the home are used in the most efficient and cost effective way and that value for money is obtained for all purchases.
  • Working/liaising with other professionals, such as a GP, Social Worker and families.

Key Tasks

  • The Company induction will give you the skills and knowledge to understand your role.
  • You will provide personal care such as washing, bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting assistance to the Service Users and will undertake manual handling duties as required.
  • You will be responsible, as part of the senior team for the leading, directing and managing of staff whilst running the shift.
  • You will ensure that a person centred approach is adopted to meet the identified needs of the individual.
  • You will contribute to the effective supervision and support of staff.
  • You will maintain necessary records and participate in the Service Users care planning, goal setting and resident reviews.
  • You will access and update confidential records using a computer on a daily bases. You may also be required to use technology to support Customers in order to improve health and well-being in order to maintain contact with family and friends e.g. Skype, YouTube, Internet etc.
  • You will implement the Company’s policy in relation to the safe storage, handling and recording of medicines and treatments.
  • You will ensure appropriate staffing numbers are met on each shift.
  • When you are on duty, you and your team will be responsible for the safety and well being of the Service Users, staff and visitors to the home.
  • You will attend meetings, training courses and follow-up refresher courses as required.
  • You will maintain a professional and hygienic appearance.
  • You will work in line with the policy on Infection Prevention and Control, according to your role.
  • Night Supervisor only – You will be expected to stay awake and not leave the building when you are on duty.

You would need to have the following qualifications and experience:

  • At least one years experience in a care role.
  • Understanding the needs of older people
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • NVQ level 2 in Care or equivalent and willing to work towards the relevant qualification within 12 months
  • Good literacy skills (to be able to produce and read care plans, and to complete running daily records)
  • Prepared to undertake IT training
  • Monitoring care delivery
  • To lead and manage a team
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Ability to manage your own time
  • Honesty and respect for confidentiality
